Its central location also makes it an easy stop while exploring the shops and galleries that make downtown Whitefish so charming.

Thirty-Eight

One of our favorite discoveries in downtown Whitefish was Thirty Eight, an open-air gathering space that perfectly captures the town’s laid-back mountain culture. Rather than a traditional restaurant, Thirty Eight brings together rotating local food trucks, a craft beverage bar, live music, lawn games, and community events in one vibrant outdoor venue.

The atmosphere is what makes this place so memorable. Families gathered around picnic tables, live musicians played as the sun began to set, and visitors and locals alike came together to enjoy great food and the relaxed energy that makes Whitefish so special.

Because the food trucks rotate throughout the season, every visit offers something a little different, making Thirty Eight a fun spot to return to during your stay. We loved being able to sample local flavors while soaking in the lively atmosphere and watching the community come together on a summer evening.

While many visitors come to Whitefish as a base for Glacier National Park, the town has become a destination in its own right.

Between the vibrant downtown, welcoming local businesses, outstanding restaurants, beautiful river and lake access, and endless outdoor recreation, it’s easy to spend several days here without running out of things to do. Staying at Whitefish Riverfront Hotel placed us close to all of it, allowing us to experience not only the incredible scenery of northwest Montana but also the community and hospitality that make Whitefish such a memorable place to visit.

Glacier National Park

Of course, this article would not be complete without mentioning at least a few spots to visit in Glacier National Park. If you are only spending one day in the park, I highly recommend an early start with sunrise at Lake Mcdonald, followed by a scenic drive on Going to the Sun road (pull over to see as many overlooks and sights as you want!)
