Rooms at Alma de Sedona Inn
Alma de Sedona Inn offers a variety of 12 uniquely curated rooms for guests to choose from.
Journey’s End Suite
During my stay at Alma de Sedona Inn I had the pleasure of staying in ‘Journey’s End’, one of the four larger suites. This suite, located on the first floor featured a king bed and was a welcome respite after a long day of travel. The suite features a romantic sleigh bed and the pale yellow, chocolate brown, kelley green accents lend a Victorian feel to the room. The room also had a private patio with views of iconic Thunder Mountain, surrounding Juniper trees and forest flora.
Spirituality at Alma de Sedona Inn
Alma de Sedona has created an atmosphere that allows guests to experience the spirituality of Sedona in a serene setting. On the grounds of the boutique bed and breakfast you will discover both a labyrinth and medicine wheel.
Alma de Sedona’s Medicine Wheel
A medicine wheel is a sacred symbol and teaching tool used by various Indigenous peoples in North America, particularly among the Plains Indians. It typically consists of a circle divided into four quadrants or sections, each representing different aspects such as directions (north, south, east, west), seasons (spring, summer, fall, winter), elements (earth, water, air, fire), stages of life (childhood, youth, adulthood, elderhood), and aspects of healing (physical, emotional, mental, spiritual).
The medicine wheel holds spiritual and cultural significance, serving as a guide for understanding the interconnectedness of all things, as well as a framework for healing and personal growth. Its teachings vary among different Indigenous nations, reflecting their unique perspectives and traditions.
Alma de Sedona’s Labyrinth
A labyrinth is a complex and winding structure that consists of a single, non-branching path that leads to a center point. Unlike a maze, which has multiple paths and dead ends designed to confuse and challenge, a labyrinth has a clear and purposeful path that may twist and turn but ultimately leads to the center.
Labyrinths have been used for thousands of years across various cultures and civilizations for spiritual, ritualistic, and meditative purposes. They can be found in different forms, including stone or brick pathways set in gardens, painted or drawn on floors, or constructed as intricate designs in cathedrals and other sacred spaces.
Key features of labyrinths include:
- Single Path: There is only one route to the center and back out again, making it easier to navigate compared to a maze.
- Circular Design: Labyrinths are typically circular or square in shape, with the path winding back and forth within the confines of the design.
- Meditative and Spiritual Use: Labyrinths are often used for walking meditation, prayer, contemplation, and spiritual reflection. Walking the labyrinth is seen as a metaphorical journey inward toward one’s center or soul, and then outward again.
- Symbolism: The labyrinth symbolizes life’s journey, transformation, and the search for meaning. It represents the twists and turns of life’s path, with the center symbolizing enlightenment, clarity, or a goal.
- Global Presence: Labyrinths can be found worldwide, with variations in design and cultural significance. They have been embraced by various religious traditions, including Christianity, where they are often found in cathedrals as a tool for prayer and meditation.
Overall, labyrinths offer a structured and symbolic way for individuals to engage in introspection, seek guidance, or simply find peace and solace in their journey through life.
